The King's Theatre Glasgow is one of Scotland's oldest and most important
theatres, and presents musicals and pantomime alongside a broad selection
of dance, comedy and drama. The King's Theatre opened in 1904 as one
of the most brilliant designs of the prolific theatre architect Frank
Matcham and has played host to top stars and shows ever since. The
Kings Theatre is home to arguably the best Christmas pantomime in
the UK which, over the years, has featured many of the Scottish greats
including Stanley Baxter, Jimmy Logan, Rikki Fulton, Jack Milroy,
Elaine C Smith and the late Gerard Kelly.
The King's Theatre is located on Renfrew Street in the city centre, and was the venue used for the opening ceremony in 1990 when Glasgow was awarded the European City of Culture.
The King's Theatre website has up-to-date information about upcoming shows:
Spacious and cozy large beds. Breakfast was fantastic, better than I've had at 5 star hotels. Staff very helpful & friendly. There is also free use of computer and coffee/tea facilities at reception, as well as a library of information leaflets about area.
