Glasgow has a long and proud footballing tradition, and has one of the most famous footballing rivalries in the world, known as the Old Firm. For over 100 years, Celtic Football Club, who play at Celtic Park (Parkhead Stadium) have been fierce rivals with Rangers Football Club, who play at Ibrox Stadium. Partick Thistle are regarded as Glasgow's "third team", and have a devoted following in the Firhill area of Glasgow.
In addition to taking in a game of football, when staying in Glasgow you have the opportunity to explore the roots of the game in the Scottish Football Museum, based in the National Stadium, Hampden Park.
Information about Old Firm fixtures and the football museum is available from the Sandyford Hotel Glasgow.
Spacious and cozy large beds. Breakfast was fantastic, better than I've had at 5 star hotels. Staff very helpful & friendly. There is also free use of computer and coffee/tea facilities at reception, as well as a library of information leaflets about area.
