Victoria Park is situated in the West of the city and features a pond, gardens,
sports pitches and the Fossil Grove Museum. The park was named for Queen
Victoria's 1886 Golden Jubilee. Facilities in the park also include orienteering
courses, bowling, tennis and a play area for children.
The Fossil Grove has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest by Scottish National Heritage, and preserves the remains of a 330 million year old forest unearthed during landscaping work in 1887. Today the area is displayed in a specially constructed building with viewing platform.
Spacious and cozy large beds. Breakfast was fantastic, better than I've had at 5 star hotels. Staff very helpful & friendly. There is also free use of computer and coffee/tea facilities at reception, as well as a library of information leaflets about area.
