The University of Strathclyde was founded over 200 years ago under the name of
Anderson's Institute and with the motto of "useful learning". It is centrally
located near George Square, Buchanan Street Bus Station and Queen Street Train
Station. It has over 20,000 full-time and part-time students and another 30,000
continuing education and professional students.
The University of Strathclyde runs regular cultural activities that are
open to visitors, for instance the University of Strathclyde Music Club and
contemporary and historic art exhibitions from the Collins Gallery. Famous
graduates of Strathclyde University include John Logie Baird - the inventor of
the first working television system - and the explorer David Livingstone.
Spacious and cozy large beds. Breakfast was fantastic, better than I've had at 5 star hotels. Staff very helpful & friendly. There is also free use of computer and coffee/tea facilities at reception, as well as a library of information leaflets about area.
