The Museum of Transport - or the Riverside Museum as it is now known - in Glasgow
is reputed to be the best Transport Museum
in the UK, and attracts around half a million visitors annually. All forms of
transport are featured, including trams, buses, ships, circus caravans, bikes
and automobiles, including the oldest pedal cycle in existence. As well as various
well-preserved modes of transport, the museum also contains a recreated 1950s
street, the Clyde Room with 250 delicate models of Glasgow-built ships, an
old-fashioned underground station and a small cinema showing short historical
documentaries about life in Glasgow.
Please note the Transport Museum has moved from its previous location at Kelvin Hall in the West End. The Glasgow Transport Museum is located on Pointhouse Place next to The Tall Ship at the Clyde Harbour.
