The O2 Academy (formerly the Carling Academy) is one of Glasgow's more popular venues, a converted bingo hall
with capacity for 2,500 people. Glasgow's Carling Academy is located near Bridge
Street Underground Station, and is only a few minutes walk from Argyle Street
and the City Centre, including Glasgow Central Train Station and Glasgow Queen
Street Train Station.
The venue has packed in a huge number of massive concerts since it opened in 2003 with legendary Scottish band Deacon Blue. The Glasgow Academy has hosted Franz Ferdinand, The Flaming Lips, The Prodigy, Sugababes and Morissey. In addition to being a music venue, the Glasgow Carling Academy frequently hosts Comedy acts, as part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, including comedians such as Paul Merton and Jerry Sadowitz.
Spacious and cozy large beds. Breakfast was fantastic, better than I've had at 5 star hotels. Staff very helpful & friendly. There is also free use of computer and coffee/tea facilities at reception, as well as a library of information leaflets about area.
