Bellahouston Park is located in the south side of Glasgow, and is popular for
walking, cycling and orienteering. There is also a dry ski slope, bowling club
and miniature golf course, as well as the Bellahouston Sports Centre.
Bellahouston Park was formed in 1895, having previously been farmland, and
since that time has played host to several major public events. In 1938,
Bellahouston Park hosted the Empire Exhibition, because the alternative venue,
Kelvingrove Park, was deemed too small. And on the 1st of June 1982,
Bellahouston Park was visited by Pope John Paul II as part of his Scottish tour.
Almost 300,000 people turned up to hear him perform Mass.
Bellahouston Park also houses two attractions for art lovers, the Palace
of Art and the House for an Art Lover by the world renowned Scottish architect
and designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Spacious and cozy large beds. Breakfast was fantastic, better than I've had at 5 star hotels. Staff very helpful & friendly. There is also free use of computer and coffee/tea facilities at reception, as well as a library of information leaflets about area.
